Yacht Management & Crew Support

Ongoing technical support between yard periods: maintenance planning, budget support, vendor coordination, and a technical resource for the captain and crew.

Who this is for

Owners who want disciplined technical oversight without building an in-house management structure, and captains who want an experienced engineering counterpart for planning, vendor questions, and problems that surface at sea.

Between yard periods

Maintenance tracked in scattered records, unreviewed vendor invoices, and deferred small items tend to raise the cost of the next yard period. Ongoing technical management keeps one maintained plan, reviews spending, and addresses issues while they are small.

Scope of the engagement

  • Preventive-maintenance planning and tracking across hull, machinery, and systems
  • Operating-budget support and review of technical expenditure
  • Vendor and contractor coordination, with quotes reviewed before commitment
  • Crew technical support: a standing engineering resource for the captain and crew
  • Vessel-specific technical training and onboarding for new crew
  • Advisory support to the owner and captain in crew hiring decisions
  • Engagements structured as an ongoing retainer, scoped in writing to the vessel and its program
Technical note

Yacht management

Ongoing care of systems, finish, and paperwork keeps the vessel ready for her owner.

How a management engagement works

  1. Technical review

An onboarding review of the vessel's condition, maintenance records, and open items establishes the baseline.

  2. Plan & budget

A preventive-maintenance plan and an operating-budget frame are agreed with the owner and captain.

  3. Ongoing stewardship

Maintenance tracking, vendor coordination, expenditure review, and crew technical support on the agreed retainer scope.

  4. Periodic review

Scheduled reviews with the owner: condition trends, spending against budget, and what the next yard period should address.

What you receive

  • A maintained preventive-maintenance plan with periodic status reporting
  • Periodic operating-budget reviews and expenditure summaries
  • Documented vendor quotes, approvals, and completed-work records
  • Crew training and onboarding documentation specific to the vessel
  • A running condition record that feeds directly into refit and survey planning

Scope and limitations

  • MARITEC is not a licensed crew-placement or manning agency; hiring decisions are made by the owner and captain, with our input limited to technical assessment
  • Management support is technical and advisory; command of the vessel and statutory responsibilities remain with the captain and owner
  • We do not act as a charter manager or commercial operator of the vessel
  • Retainer terms are set out in a written proposal for each vessel; pricing is not published

Frequently asked questions

How is the engagement structured?
As an ongoing retainer scoped in writing to the vessel's size, complexity, and operating program. Terms are provided in a written proposal after the initial technical review.
Do you place or employ crew?
No. MARITEC is not a crew-placement agency. We support the owner and captain with technical assessment during hiring and with training once crew are aboard. The employment relationship is theirs.
Can this work alongside an existing management company?
Yes. Some owners retain us specifically as owner-side technical oversight alongside a full-service manager. The division of responsibilities is defined in the written scope.

Discuss ongoing technical support.

Describe the yacht, its program, and how it is supported today. We will propose a retainer scope that fits the vessel, with no more structure than it needs.
